Nice Derma for a White Wedding

Already this season we have seen snow and Storm Diane in the UK, however, just when you thought it was safe to slip into a chunky knit jumper, there often comes an invite to a winter wedding.

For the bride and groom this is an opportunity for ice sculptures, mulled Pimms and a Christmas tree at the reception. Possibly even snow in the photos. If you’re a guest though, things can be more challenging. So how do you get yourself looking great for a white wedding in the deep mid-winter? It’s all about dress and derma.

First of all, dress. The bride may have a personal stylist on hand all day and a line of attendants to hold warm accessories or umbrellas, but mere mortal guests generally have to be more self-sufficient. This means outfits have to be practical as well as beautiful.

Colour-wise, anything other than white goes for a winter wedding, even black is officially acceptable. To avoid an LBD feeling too sombre, choose one with some lace and extra details like ruffles.

If you’re brave enough to go without a jacket or coat, then long sleeve dresses are perfect, especially in velvet for a festive feel. On colder occasions over-sized blazers will sit nicely on your shoulders and keep you warm without covering up the rest of your outfit. Or, if you prefer to be even cosier, simply focus on your outer layer and wear a big bold statement coat.

There’s no point in a designer outfit though if your derma is drab. When our skin looks healthy it lifts any style and leaves us glowing. Unfortunately winter is a tough season for skin. Cold winds, central heating and even winter sun all cause our derma to dehydrate and age - leading to dreaded wrinkles and dull skin.

To keep your skin looking tip-top, take some time to take care of it. Our diet can affect our skin, so choose more healthy options including walnuts, olive oil, and avocados. Having shorter baths and showers will also help to prevent the derma drying out, especially if you moisturise immediately after. To protect skin during the day, apply sunscreen (yes, in winter) and at night a cool-mist humidifier works well.

When it comes to products for winter skin, always go for quality over quantity. Creams and serums containing hyaluronic acid and antioxidants will boost without creating a thick barrier. The Juvilis range of absorbable fillers I offer are perfect for keeping your skin looking healthy, hydrated and younger. Their Anti-aging Lifting Protecting Day Lotion moisturises protects and illuminates skin.

Combine it with their Anti-wrinkle Firming Repairing Night Cream which encourages the production of collagen and elastin.

For a further treat, I offer the new non-invasive facial peel from Mask Professional to leave your skin looking younger, firmer and healthier. No down time is needed after the treatment, but it’s best to leave a good gap between peel and wedding pictures.
